Mount Kenya has been in the limelight as we head to the general elections, political merchants have been campaigning in the region Convincing voters into their side. With over 5 million voters, from the past elections, the Gema community will indeed be playing a major impact on the elected presidential aspirant. All the four presidential candidates have chosen their running mates from the region.

Azimio la Umoja team is also in a hurry to ensure their brigade clinches most of the county seats. In Kirinyaga county Martha Karua is hoping to deliver a county governor to her side through the Narc Kenya party. Jubilee also will be presenting a current krinyaga senator as their preferred candidate.
However many political analysts claim that if the two parties fill their candidates to the post from the same coalition, then chances remain either Waiguri or ngirici will win the race. With the hopes to reclaim the governor's seat, Mr. Kibiru the jubilee candidate has signaled a possibility of collaborating with Narc Kenya candidate to fill only one Aspirant as a coalition.
