Statement by Nyandarua Governor That Could Boost Odinga's Effort to Secure Mount Kenya in 2022

Several Mount Kenya top politicians have been coming out to reveal the reason why they tainted the former prime minister Raila Odinga's name in Central Kenya in both 2013 and 2017 general elections.

This is to clear the narrative that the ODM party leader may be difficult to be accepted in the region in the next general elections. Odinga on his part has been making several tours in the region with a view of gaining the trust of the people.

Speaking during an interview with the TV 47 on night Monday 4th October, the Jubilee party governor for Nyandarua county, Francis Kimemia revealed that they only demonized Raila in the region because he was their competitor.

"All those negative things we said about Raila Odinga were just politics because he was in competition with president Uhuru Kenyatta," he said.

He further noted that the things they said about Raila could not prevent them from working with him in the next general elections adding that he is allowed in the region to speak to people and tell them what he will do to them if elected.

He further said that all the presidential aspirants are welcomed in the region and talk to the people adding that Mount Kenya is very much united and will vote as a bloc in the 2022 general elections.

"I can assure you that if there is a time Mount Kenya will vote as a united front, it is 2022 because we cannot afford to be out of government," he said.
