UDA Lawmaker Lauds CS Linturi For Clarity On Maize Importation, Urges Govt To Use Locally Maize

UDA lawmaker has lauded Cabinet Secretary of Agriculture Mithika Linturi for clarity on maize importation. Linturi said that he is the custodian of how much food is needed and how much is deficit. Therefore Senator Cherargei lauded the move by Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi to clarify that the Cabinet was not involved in Maize importation.

According to the report shared through social media platforms on Monday, November 28, the Nandi county senator revealed that Ruto's government should utilize locally available maize instead of using imported maize, a report that has received a lot of support from several farmers across the country.

Earlier, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary distanced himself from the sentiments of Cabinet Secretary of Trade Moses Kuria on Maize importation. "Thank you CS Mithika Linturi for setting the record straight that cabinet didn't sanction importation of 10 million bags of duty free maize," Samson Cherargei argued. He further urged President William Ruto's government to use locally available maize to cushion farmers.
