Popular Jubilee MP Cheats Death After Being Sprayed With Bullets While On a Campaign Trail

A popular Jubilee party lawmaker has cheated death by a whisker after being spayed with bullets while campaigning for his reelection bid in his constituency today afternoon.

As The Nation reports Here, Jubilee party MP for Marakwet East constituency Mr Kangongo Bowen and his entourage who were holding a rally when gunmen believed to be bandits from a neighboring county appeared and started firing indiscriminately.

The legislator, his entourage and the crowd he was addressing scampered for safety and hid themselves in nearby rocks, even as the gunmen continued to fire.

"It was the rocks that gave us cover and helped us escape a massacre. There was gunfire from all directions and it is by the grace of God that we survived," the MP told Daily Nation in a phone interview.

Two people were injured in the process even as the MP revealed that he made desperate phone calls to the security agencies who responded by sending general service unit personnel to end the attack that had carried on for 30 minutes.
