Is it going to be a Four Horse Race for Nandi Gubernatorial Seat?

As we approach the August general elections, the political temperature in the country is taking the new. In Nandi county, the race to dethrone the incumbent governor Stephen Kipyego Sang has been gaining momentum. All aspirants have already started to make early inroads in the county to popularize their different gubernatorial bids.

The prestigious Nandi county gubernatorial seat has attracted the likes of the current Nandi county Senator Samson Cherargei, Laywer Allan Kosgey, former Nandi county governor Cleophas Lagat, Elijah Lagat and the incumbent governor Stephen Kipyego Sang.

From the current political alignments in Nandi county, the race to unseat the incumbent governor Stephen Sang is likely going to be tough among the former governor Cleophas Lagat, Laywer Allan Kosgey, Senator Samson Cherargei and the incumbent governor Stephen Kipyego Sang.

Nandi county is a political background of the Deputy President William Ruto and most of the aspirants are eyeing the top county seat in UDA party. Both Samson Cherargei and Allan Kosgey have been criticizing the incumbent governor Stephen Sang for poor management of the county resources.

On the other hand, former governor Cleophas Lagat has been working hard to recapture the seat that he lost to Sang in 2017. Lastly, the incumbent governor Stephen Kipyego Sang has the advantage of using the county resources to launch new projects and complete the stalled ones in the remaining months thus influencing the voting patterns in the county.
