Following the happenings, IEBC accused the governor of hooliganism after hired goons to disrupt tallying of votes at Mangu High School in Juja Constituency.
The poll body was then forced to temporarily halt the count when his goons attempted to walk away with ballot boxes until normalcy was fully restored.
It took the intervention of the police to shield the Governor from being attacked by rowdy youths, with Moses Kuria, Ndindi Nyoro and Senator Irungu Kang’ata who were all present in the all at the time later ejected from the hall.
The vocal legislator was yesterday on the ground overseeing the elections while supporting his People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) candidate George Koimburi yesterday.
He thereafter shared his near death experience when he almost lost his life in the process while thanking God.
“This tragic story of 18th May 2021 will require a lot of energy to tell. It will be told for generations to come. For now all we can say is at this hour 3.42am on 19th May 2021, we are still stuck at the Mangu High School.
We are not sure when we will leave this centre. That we escaped death by a whisker last evening is the most vivid proof that God is indeed still in the throne. We need your prayers above all else” Wrote Moses Kuria.
According to Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata a confrontation ensued where Kuria found himself in the mix in which the law enforcers were forced to fire in the air.
