Prior to her appointment as Raila Odinga's running mate in the forthcoming presidential elections, Karua had declared her candidature in the race to dethrone incumbent Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru through NARC-Kenya party ticket.
She was however forced to shelve her gubernatorial aspirations following her appointment as Azimio's running mate which left her party without a gubernatorial candidate in her home county.
Karua's replacement for the position has however finally been unveiled by vocal lawyer Ndegwa Njiru.
Taking to the social media, Njiru shared NARC-Kenya party ticket for Kirinyaga gubernatorial race, with economist Muriithi Kagai as the gubernatorial aspirant and himself as his Deputy.
He went ahead and warned that corrupt leaders would be smoked out by all means possible.
The duo will now face-off with incumbent Governor Anne Waiguru who is defending the position on UDA and Woman Rep Wangui Ngirici who is vying for the position as an independent candidate.
