Kalonzo To Run For President After Raila Chose Martha Karua As His Running Mate

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka"/>On Monday, May 16, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka announced his intention to compete for President in the August 9 election.

Kalonzo opted to run after being let down by the Azimio alliance, where he had planned to be Raila Odinga's running mate.

During the Monday news conference, Kalonzo was flanked by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and former Devolution PS Andrew Sunkuli, who will be the former Vice President's running mate.

"I've informed my brother Raila about my plan to name my running partner." He came to my residence in an attempt to persuade me to support his decision. We couldn't agree, so he said he'd go with Martha and I said I'd go with anybody I wanted.

"Gideon may have been assigned to spy on us, but he is completely on our side. OKA, in my honest opinion, will continue in its current form, and we will exchange notes. Our goal is to save our country."

"Kenya Kwanza and Azimio are not particularly popular among Kenyans. How long do people expect Kalonzo to make the sacrifice before they screw up when I do? I pledge to work for gender equality in government."

"Kenyans must reconsider their mindset. In fact, I plan to meditate and think about these critical issues for the next week."

The Wiper party has already filed a legal challenge to the coalition agreement.
