His name is Kuria Kanyingi. He was born in 1945 and he worked as an ordinary mechanic with a diploma in motor vehicle technology from Strathmore college. Kuria got recognition from Moi when he was president when he repaired his vehicle and promoted him to be a vehicle inspector in Coast region at Likoni Motor Vehicle Inspection Unit.
This is where he got a throughway into KANU government and in the 90's, he was appointed as the KANU chairman for Kiambu. He was also an MP for Limuru constituency from 2002 to 2007. His prowess in politics and support for Moi made him one of the people Moi really trusted. In the process, Kuria became rich until he was nicknamed Mr. Money bags because of the huge amounts of money he used to contribute in Harambees. He had shares in almost all banks in Kenya and also owned pieces of land in the country.
This man is linked to where Kenya Kwanza coalition running mate, Rigathi Gachagua is right now politically. It is believed that Kuria mentored Gachagua in mastering the art of abrasive politics when he was working as a D.O in Limuru. This influence is one of the reasons that Rigathi Gachagua became the best bet for presidential running mate despite coming to the limelight when he was elected as Mathira MP in 2017 elections.
