Former South Mugirango Member of Parliament Omingo Magara has reacted after Deputy President William Ruto was declared as the winner of August 9, 2022 presidential election.
Magara resigned as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Treasurer and party member on Marcg citing lack of democracy.
“For a long time, I have harboured an ambition to be the Kisii County Governor through the UDA party where I was also the national treasurer. However, there has since been developments that render my candidature through the UDA Party impossible,” he said.
A few days later Magara joined President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee and announced he would vie for Kisii Senator on the party. The seat was won by Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka of ODM.1
Moments after Ruto was announced as the President-elect, Magara took to social media to congratulate his former UDA boss.
"Congratulations President Elect HE Dr William S. Ruto the 5th. You have made history by being the first Deputy President to ascend to Presidency. You have never lost and don't lose the opportunity to serve Kenyans," he tweeted.
