Bungoma UDA Senatorial Candidate Receives Boost As More Groups Back His Bid

Former Bumula constituency member of Parliament Moses Mwambu Mabonga has received a major boost as groups from several divides endorsed his bid to succeed Moses Masika Wetangula who is now the speaker of national assembly.

Led by Judith Rombosia from Sang'alo Women network, the groups have termed Mwambu Mabonga as a mature and committed leader who will fearlessly defend Bungoma county at the Senate.

"Wetangula set a high standard and now that he is speaker, we shall not gamble about it anymore, Mabonga is the only leader who can carry that flag," she said.

Her sentiments were reiterated by religious leaders who affirmed to pray for him to succeed alongside assisting him to mobilize the christian community.

"He has our good will since his track record in the constituency is clear, the people of Bungoma have confidence in him and we shall pray for his success," said Reverend Francis Sarani from church of God.

Upon endorsement, Mabonga assured his supporters that he will not let them down if the bestore him a chance at the senate.

"I will maintain the dignity that Bungoma has acquired in the republic of Kenya if I get this opportunity," he said.

In addition, he used the opportunity to dismiss claims that he will not contest for the seat. This comes after claims circulating on social media that he has quitted the race.

"Let all my supporters ignore the hearsays and be assured that I will be on the ballot, I will unveil my campaign trail as soon as IEBC announces election dates," he added.

Mabonga will be contesting against at least ten other candidates who have so far declared their interest in the seat.

It should be noted that UDA leadership in Bungoma county has already endorsed Mwambu.

The groups have also requested National Assembly speaker Moses Masika Wetangula to endorse him citing that the former legislator is better place to represent Bungoma at the Senate.
