Julius Mawathe, MP for Embakasi South, appears to have reversed his earlier remarks that he can only support ODM leader Raila Odinga under certain conditions.
He stated recently in Taita Taveta that he and fellow Wiper MPs will only support Raila if he chooses Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as his running mate and deputy.
On Sunday, however, he appeared to eat his own words, declaring his support for Raila at an event skipped by other Wiper MPs despite the party's membership in Raila's Azimio La Umoja.
He predicted Raila would sweep the country in the much-anticipated election while accompanying Raila to the Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi.
"As a Wiper member, I'd like to announce here that on August 9, all of our votes will go to Raila Amollo Odinga," the parliamentarian said, according to Citizen TV.
However, this comes only weeks after he stated at Kalonzo's Command Center in Nairobi that if Ukambani leaders, natives, and residents are to vote for him, Raila must choose Kalonzo.
