President Ruto's Cabinet Nominees Are Worth More Than US President Biden His Cabinet Combined

On Saturday, October 22, the 22 candidates for President William Ruto's Cabinet were thoroughly vetted. The Committee on Appointments is now withdrawing to draft a report that will be presented to the National Assembly for discussion before being given to the Head of State.

During the week-long vetting process, the committee questioned each nominee on a number of pertinent matters, revealing previously unknown facts about the men and women who will soon hold the positions of leadership in the nation.

The net worth of the candidates for the Cabinet may be one of the highlights of the screening process.

Out of the 22 candidates, Mithika Linturi, the nominee for the job of Agriculture CS, came in second with a net worth of Ksh. 1.2 billion, followed by Musalia Mudavadi, who has been nominated for Prime Cabinet Secretary.

Simon Chelugui, Prof. Njuguna Ndung'u, and Aden Duale came in second and third, with net worth estimates of Ksh.993 million, Ksh.950 million, and Ksh.871 million, respectively.

Trade CS candidate Moses Kuria disclosed that his net worth is Ksh. 750 million. He is followed in wealth by Justin Muturi, who is running for attorney general, Ksh. 700 million, Eliud Owalo, who is running for ICT CS, Ksh. 645 million, Ezekiel Machogu, who is running for education CS, Ksh. 590 million, Kipchumba Murkomen, who is running for transport CS, Ksh.544M.

The following other nominees disclosed their net worth: Mercy Wanjau, Ksh. 475M, Ababu Namwamba, Ksh. 425M, Alfred Mutua, Ksh. 420M, Rebecca Miano, Ksh. 397M, Peninah Malonza, Ksh. 300M, Alice Wahome, Ksh. 218M, Florence Bore, Ksh. 200M, Soipan Tuya, Ksh. 156M, Salim Mvurya, Ksh.80M.

The combined net worth of the 22 nominees for the Cabinet is Ksh. 15 billion, which is more than US President Joe Biden, his Vice President Kamala Harris, and cabinet secretaries are worth together.

According to a Forbes report from the previous year, President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and their 15 Cabinet members are together worth $118 million (about Ksh. 14 billion).
