The opposition politicians who criticize President William Ruto's Hustlers Funds, which are already being used by Kenyans, have been confronted.
The president questioned why opposition MPs are opposed to the plan if they have access to better loans as he spoke at Nyayo Stadium during Jamhuri Day celebrations.
He also questioned why, while opposing Hustlers Fund, which offers loans to Kenyans at reasonable interest rates, they still obtain loans from banks at even higher rates.
The blunt-speaking president pleaded with the authorities to enable the Hustlers Fund to exist and to permit Kenyans to freely access loans.
"If you wanted to, you could borrow from your bank at 14% instead of the 3% mortgage interest rate. Why do you want to hinder those who currently deal with shylocks and predatory lenders, such as hustlers?" Ruto asked.
