Netizens React After Jubilee MP Claims That Uhuru Ruled Out a Kikuyu or a Kalenjin President in 2022

Jubilee MP Maoka Maore on Tuesday found himself on the receiving end after claiming that President Uhuru Kenyatta had advised for a rotational presidency where the top seat in 2022 should be occupied by a person from another tribe and not a Kikuyu or Kalenjin.

In January this year, while addressing mourners during the burial of Musalia Mudavadi's mother, Uhuru argued that it was probably a time for another tribe to take charge, but political experts claimed that the president meant that anyone can lead the country.

Speaking on K24 TV, the Igembe North MP argued that Kenyans are tired of two tribes leading the country when there are more than 40 tribes.

He went on to allege that the president's remarks is the main reason the Mount Kenya Region will not be fielding a presidential candidate next year.

"The president said that he does not want a situation where we keep changing from Rift Valley to Central and vice versa, everyone is tired of that. That is a clear indication that Mount Kenya will not be fielding a candidate."

Maore is among the Jubilee MPs who have endorsed ODM leader Raila Odinga for presidency.
