Two Key Reasons Why Cherera And Nyang'aya Decided To Resign
By WangaGirl (self media writer) | 2 months ago
Of the four embattled IEBC commissioners, two; Juliana Cherera and Justus Nyang'aya have decided to resign before they appear before the tribunal. Already, the four were suspended by president William Ruto and a tribunal formed to investigate them. The resignation of Cherera has been met by mixed reactions. Some people are happy while others are not.
However, the Star reports that there are two key reasons why the two decided to resign. The first one is because they fear being taken through humiliating hearings. The second is because, they do not want to be barred completely from holding any public office. Once someone is found guilty and sacked, he is barred from serving in any public office.
Therefore, they had to defend their reputation before it is completely spoiled. However, a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders like deputy national assembly speaker Gladys Boss Shollei have said that the two have to face the tribunal even if they resign.
