According to President Uhuru, he has been recorded stating that he is not going to stay in power after 2022 informing that he plans to retire peacefully.
The Head of State has added that even if he will be retiring from politics he also will ensure he won't leave this country to a thief or a politician who will endanger the well being of Kenyans.
"Let me tell you for free, I'm not going to hand over power to a thief or a politician who will endanger the well being of Kenyans, I don't care whether or not they abuse me because it doesn't bother me one bit", President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Deputy President William Ruto's communications Director Emmanuel Talam has responded to the succession remarks by President Uhuru saying that the head of state statements that he cannot leave power to a thief can only be directed to "Covid billionaires."
Tangatanga spokesman Dennis Itumbi and a close ally to DP Ruto has also responded to the statement made by the President saying that it's a big no for him since he[President] has no role in deciding who you will Hand-Over to.
"No. Mr President...You have no role in deciding who you will Hand-Over to. That is the business of the People of Kenya and their God...Your role is to serve for the remaining days and retire gracefully as you have said," Dennis Itumbi has said.
