Raila Odinga was one of the delegates who graced the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Wang'uru International Stadium in Kirinyaga County. When he was given a chance to speak, he was straight forward with reminding Kenyans of the people who should be celebrated as heroes of this country and revealed that one of the people he celebrates the most is the former president Mwai Kibaki.
He went ahead and updated the audience that he recently visited Dedan Kimathi's wife Mukami Kimathi and that she sent greetings to Mashujaa celebration attendees. That she could not come because she is sick nursing the wounds she got when she was detained years back.
"Recently I visited Maito Mukami Kimathi and she send her greetings to this audience today. She said she couldn't come because she is ailing and nursing detention wounds that were inflicted those days in Kamiti where she was a guest together with Mama Ngina Kenyatta," he said.
He recognised Mukami Kimathi and Mama Ngina that they were among the political detainees who were tortured for our freedom.
