Kenyan politics are very dynamic and only a small percentage of leaders manage to secure elective positions consecutively. For instance, only about 20% of the total leadership were reelected in the previous General Elections.
Majority of the leaders only serve for a single term or get reelected later after years of political cold. Despite the challenging scope of Kenyan politics, there are two serving leaders from Mt Kenya who have never recorded defeat in the history of their political journey. They have been reelected consecutively for decades proving their expertise in politics.
He is the incumbent Senator of Murang'a County, a position he occupied in 2013 via Jubilee Party ticket. The legislator has never lost an election since 2002 when he first made his debut in politics as Councillor at Central Ward in Kiharu Constituency.
He further scaled the ladder in 2013 when he successfully won Kiharu Constituency Parliamentary position. Kanga'ta was later elected as for Murang'a Senatorial position in 2017. The leader has now announced his candidature in the the County's gubernatorial position and has been leading in various public opinion polls.
Kiraitu is the current Governor of Meru county after defeating the former governor and the current CS Agriculture Peter Munya in 2017 General Elections. He has a long history in Kenyan politics boasting of a 25-year successful political journey.
The Governor has managed to win six elections using different political parties since 1992 when he won Imenti South Parliamentary position via Ford Kenya ticket. He was reelected in 1997, 2002, and 2007 via Democratic Party (DP), NARC, and PNU Party tickets respectively.
In 2013, he crafted a new political outfit, APK, which propelled him to the Senate. He dissolved the party under Jubilee Party which he used to secure Governorship position in the last General Elections.
