The High Court has today 29th November 2022 struck out cases that had been filed challenging the nomination of 51 Principal Secretaries by President William Samoei Ruto. Justice Nduma Nderi dismissed the consolidated petitions, stating that they had been filed prematurely.
LSK had petitioned the list as presented to Parliament alleging it did not take into account the regional and tribal balance, the two-thirds gender rule principle, persons with disabilities and the youth. Before its suspension, the vetting was to take place between November 14 and November 18.
This means that the National Assembly will soon resume and proceed with the vetting of the 29 PS nominees who had not appeared before various departmental committees in the National Assembly when the exercise was suspended by Speaker Moses Wetangula.
The 29 who had not been grilled and interviewed by the committees are.
