Have you heard of the latest uproar online on how people have found themselves registered in political parties without their consent?
ICT minister Joe Mucheru has admitted that data from the voter register of the IEBC has been compromised as people seek to buy the voter register at a cost of Ksh 4 million. Are you wondering how you can check on your mobile phone? Here’s a step-by-step guide.
1. Go to orpp.ecitizen.go.ke
2. Scroll down the screen and tap on check registration status.
You will be taken to another page where you will have to key in your ecitizen credentials. These are your email address or ID number and your password.
3. Go to Check membership status. You will have to tap on click on the complete button below to view your membership status. Click on it.
4. You will be shown the party you’ve been registered to. In my case, I haven’t registered for any political party yet.
You can download or print the membership status.
However, if you find yourself registered to a party you do not belong to, the Office of Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) has provided protocols to be followed to deregister.
