On Sunday, November 28, angry youths which are said to be Kirinyaga county women representative Purity Ngirici supporters, set on fire reflector jackets given to them by the county governor, Ann Waiguru.
The jackets which was branded with governor Ann Waiguru's name were set ablaze on the middle of the road ahead of Deputy President William Ruto's tour later on Sunday, November 28.
Today, marks the first visit of Deputy president William Ruto to the region since Governor Waiguru left the ruling party Jubilee fo Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a move that threatened to dim Nguciri's shining star at the party she played a major role in establishing. The two Kirinyaga county leaders have been in different terms since Waiguru joined UDA party.
According to reports going rounds within the county, sections aligned to both Waiguru and Wangui are already set for a political showdown.It is alleged that there are plans to heckle some leaders, especially those from outside Kirinyaga County.
