But there was drama in the upper chamber after Azimio la Umoja Senators left after Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, their candidate for Senate speaker, took his name off the list.
The drill continued notwithstanding their decision to leave the chamber. However, a number of senators from Azimio la Umoja remained and participated in the election of Amason Kingi as the new Senate Speaker.
Senators from the Azimio party from Taita, Lamu, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Garissa, Turkana, Busia, Isiolo, and Jubilee rejected the Azimio directives. Senator Kamar supported Kingi's election as Speaker.
As the battle between Azimio la Umoja and Kenya Kwanza for the position of Speaker intensifies, all eyes will now be on the National Assembly to see who will win.
