A Big U turn as Kenyatta Says He Will no Longer Campaign for Raila Odinga in Mt Kenya- Murathe Says

Jubilee Party vice chairman Mr. David Murathe now says President Uhuru Kenyatta will no longer campaign for Azimio One Kenya Alliance Presidential candidate Hon Raila Amolo Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua since he has achieved his objective.

Contrary to this, Uhuru's allies say that he will hit the ground in June to campaign for ODM leader Raila Odinga. Mr. Murathe, president Kenyatta has a lot of work to accomplish before the end of his term in office.

“Uhuru is not on the ticket. He will be going home in the next 79 days, and he has to oversee a peaceful transition and peaceful election. He has stepped into his shoe of being the President and Commander-in-Chief,” Murathe said.

Mr. Murathe continue to say that the president has multiplied the country's economy ever since he took over from the retired President Mwai Kibaki.

He stated clearly that the ODM leader understands where the country is heading, and will therefore be at peace to hand to him the leadership mantle.

However, he dismissed notions that the Handshake resulted in the kicking out of his key allies from the government.

“The president kept Ruto briefed on the pending handshake prior. Even as he was going to Harambee House to meet Raila, the DP was the last man to spoke to the president, and he was in agreement.” he said.

He told him exactly about the handshake with the former prime minister. President Kenyatta never dismissed anyone from work after the handshake. He didn't join the government, but peace was restored. Where did he go wrong?” Said Mr. Murathe.

Murathe said the president will assume his role as Head of State and Commander-in-Chief until the election held on August 9.

“You don't expect him to hit the ground running, that is why now you find it is Martha and Raila. They are both on the ticket.
