Deputy president William Samoei Ruto on Thursday publicly stated that he will not be attending the planned Devolution meeting as he had other plans.
Ruto was supposed to be the Chief Guest at the 7th and annual final Devolution Conference in Wote, Makueni County. However, his communications directore David Mugonyi confirmed on the last minute that the DP Will not be able to attend.
On Friday, November 26, 2021 Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya revealed to media houses that despite Ruto not showing up for the meeting, he sent his chief of staff to represent him.

However, Oparanya stated that Ruto’s move to send his chief of staff was not a smart move and in fact it was disrespect hence sending the chief of staff away from the meeting.

Oparanya further noted that there was no valid reason given by the office of the deputy president as the devolution meeting was planned earlier than his campaigns.
Ruto who is among the politicians seeking to take over after President Uhuru’s term in office ceases has been on the frontline in campaigning.
