President Uhuru Kenyatta has constantly come out to refute claims that he will not be retiring when his term comes to an end next year. With less than a year remaining, the political temperatures are already rising in the country with most politicians strategically positioning themselves. Deputy President William Ruto has made his position on succeeding the president. During the 2013 and 2017 campaigns, the president had told his supporters that, he will go ten years and then Ruto will also go another ten years. a host of other candidates have also announced that they will be on the race to battle it out and among them is the Mombasa governor Hassan Joho who presented is name to his party so that he could use it as his political vehicle.
Musalia Mudavadi has also announced his candidature but he is such a lazy politician, a sloth would feel jealous. Apart from drinking whisky and degrading Deputy president Ruto's leadership, there is nothing to write home about him. After repeated betrayal by Raila, he has made it clear that he cannot accept to run under him or support any other candidate. He will have to go it alone or explore other possible alliances which would almost inevitably flop. During his mother's funeral which was attended by president Kenyatta, Mudavadi asked the president to back him up for the top seat. His party Amani National Congress(ANC) is now seeking to impeach the deputy president.
Another candidate who has made his intention know is the Baringo Senator Gideon Moi. Without the Moi family name, Gideon is like an empty pizza box, beautifully tempting but light and empty. He is a padded prince and he grew up believing that Kenya is a monarchy and one day he would play polo, eat bacon, sleep and suddenly wake up a president! Outside his father’s compound, he cannot pull any political rally. He was not able to convince his county assembly ,embers to pass the Building Bridges Initiative Bill, now how can he beat the 'political master' Dr William Ruto in Rift Valley? The only way he can make his dreams valid is if other dynasty representatives agree to back him in an alliance, and that would still be an unbelievably difficult sell, then forget him as a serious presidential candidate.
The Ukambani 'Kingpin' Kalonzo Musyoka has also said that he will be in the race to compete with the son of Samoei. This guy is a political wind sock who will follow whatever other lead politicians will say, no wonder he has always been called a 'Watermelon'. Lets just wait for the wind and see how he will rhythmically change the tune. His perceived stronghold is singing different tunes, for instance; Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has his own party and he has said that he will be running for presidency which is a piped dream according to me, Makueni boss Kivuta Kibwana is warming up to the deputy president William Ruto, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu is leaning towards Raila Odinga and Former Machakos senator Muthama is in the middle of Ruto's camp, now how can Kalonzo Musyoka sell himself if his own people are in disarray? Muthama led a very successful campaign in Msambweni where he was able to deliver a seat beating Kalonzo and Raila's parties in the By-election.
Now lets talk about Uncle Matiang’i, this guy has never run for any political seat in the country. He is grossly inexperienced, with the largest crowd he has ever marshalled is when he is conducting a pass out parades at Kiganjo. He has the excitement of a teenager who stole his father’s car on a Sunday afternoon to impress the girl next door who happens to be Raila Odinga and it is just a matter of time before he crashes into some political ditch. When he was in the education sector, he earned himself a name and was even promoted to become the super cabinet secretary where he chairs some of the cabinet meetings and oversees the implementation of the government's projects something which has not gone well with Ruto's supporters and allies.
