Murang'a Senator Joe Nyutu has denied endorsing Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro as the new Mt Kenya political kingpin following retirement of immediate former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Nyutu said Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was the kingpin of the Mountain as well as preferred President William Ruto’s successor.
The first-time legislator noted at no time did he endorse Nyoro to succeed Ruto in 2032 saying he was misquoted and the matter taken out of proportion.
“What I meant was that Gachagua to serve 10 years as deputy president and 10 years as the president and Nyoro can take over from there,” Nyutu said.
The Senator spoke on Thursday during during the funeral of Gachagua's sister-in-law Nancy Mwangi in Gatanga constituency.
On his part, the DP rubbished claims of being in a supremacy battle with Nyoro and accused the media of being paid by "milk cartels" to cause a rift in Mt Kenya political leadership.
“There are no fights in the region and we are united for a purpose and this debate of who will hold which position at what time is not something to focus on at this time,” he stated.
Gachagua asked Nyutu not to be worried after he was being accused of initiating row between him and the Kiharu MP saying the propaganda will soon die.
"Don’t bother about these people Nyutu, forget about these characters,” he assured the Senator.
