Senior advocate Steve Ogolla has predicted the long awaited supreme court ruling on the presidential petition filed by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga, disputing UDA president elect William Ruto's win.
According to Steve Ogolla, an election law practitioner well grounded on the law and facts underpinning the petition, the threshold to guarantee nullification of presidential election was not attainted in the evidence lodged at the apex court last week.
He added that the seven judge bench team led by Chief Justice Martha Koome will find it difficult to nullify Ruto's victory.
"As an election law practitioner well grounded on the law and facts underpinning the petition, I entertain no doubt that the threshold for nullification was not achieved. The supreme court will have no difficulty in upholding the results of the presidential election" advocate Steve Ogolla said.
The supreme court judges are expected to issue verdict at 12 noon today, Monday, 5th September, 2022 at Milimani Law Court.
Raila protested against Chebukati's presidential results that rendered William Ruto as president elect after garnering 7.1M votes, reflecting 50.48 per cent of the total votes cast.
Mr. Odinga on the other hand got 6.9M votes that represented 48.89 per cent of the total votes cast.
