Judiciary is one of the most important arms of the goverment after the legislature and the executive. This arm deals with the Constitutional matters in the country. The role of the judiciary is to adjudicate disputes according to law. Adjudication involves three functions :fact determination (done mostly by the trial court), law application and law determination.
Of late, the Judiciary handed a shocker to president Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga. This was after the ruling by the five Supreme court Judges where they rejected their BBI bill saying that it was null and void. This ruling banned the entire BBI process in the country.
Now, today, president Uhuru Kenyatta has made another important move on Judiciary days after appointing justice William Auko as the judge of the Supreme court. This move is the gazetting of justice Martha Koome as the chief justice of Kenya. This is gazzetment came in after the approval of Mrs Koome's appointment by the parliament of Kenya.
This move by Uhuru Kenyatta is an important move as it will give Mrs Koome a chance to be the chief justice of Kenya. We wish justice Koome good things as she takes over the office of the chief justice.
