Pangas Recovered in MPs Compound as Would be Assailant Escapes on a Motorbike

An intruder stormed into the house of a female member of parliament in Uganda and threatened to kill her. According to Ms Betty Nambooze, the Mukono Municipality parliamentarian, the unidentified man gained access to her home at around 6 am on Monday and went straight to her bedroom.

The legislator told journalists that the assailant entered her bed chamber holding an object and threatening to kill her. The bedroom door was ajar at the time as the legislator was planning to go for a meeting at Parliament.

"The man told me to face the wall and say my last prayers because he was to kill me," she said.In turn, the legislator raised an alarm attracting her husband, who was in the living room. Her husband Bakireke rushed into the room and rescued her by grabbing the man pushing him outside. The suspect later escaped and jumped onto a motorcycle waiting for him outside as witnessed by some neighbours,” said ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson. Witnesses described the goon as tall, dark-skinned and putting on a suit jacket.Incidentally, local police recovered two new pangas in a sack at a small garden in the MP’s premises.
