Dr. Swarup Mishra Kiprop arap Chelule is not only fluent in Kalenjin, but also calls Uasin-ngishu, specifically Eldoret town, home. Many have wondered how he got his Kalenjin name Kiprop. Mishra got his name Kiprop arap Chelule (Kiprop son of Chelule) in 1998 from former Kanu chairman, the late Joel Bultut as an honour due to his philanthropic nature. He has since embraced the name. Mishra was convinced by Kesses residents to vie for the parliamentary seat in 2017 at the expense of their own tribesmen. This is because even before he engaged in politics, he shared his wealth with the disadvantaged not only in Kesses but all over Uasin-ngishu. One that won the hearts of many is that he gave each vulnerable family within Kesses a dairy cow.
On how he came to Eldoret from India, Mishra answered “I must say that Eldoret has the best weather in the world. We came to this town in 1997. My wife landed a job at Eldoret Hospital as a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology. I also got a job at Moi University’s School of Medicine as a lecturer in the reproductive department. My job sometimes demanded that I travel to Keiyo and Kabarnet to conduct operations and surgical procedures in obstetrics and gynaecology,”
Mishra is therefore a man to watch in Uasin-ngishu politics in the near future. He has an advantage in the region since he is viewed as a neutral person the cosmopolitan region.
What do you think about Mishra's political future?
