Two Counties In Nyanza That May Not Support Raila Fully and Why

Orange Democratic Movement party leader who doubles as African special envoy for infrsstructure Baba Raila Amollo Odinga is expected to run for presidency this year on August having previously vied in 1997, 2007, 2013 and 2017.

The former prime minister hails from Nyanza region that is made up of Luo, Kisii and Kuria tribes. Despite the fact that Raila is from the region, he may not get full support from Kisii and Nyamira counties unlike in Kisumu, Homabay, Siaya and Migori counties where Raila usually gets more 95% of the total votes cast.

The major reason why he gets a partial and not full support is because at one time Raila turned down late Charles Nyachae's request to endorse him but opted to support former president Mwai Kibaki in 2002. The late Charles Nyachae is from Kisii made up of the Gusii tribe same as Nyamira thus some feel that Raila betrayed them for not supporting one of their own.
