Wetangula Needs to Stop Ruto from “Buying” the Parliament – Advocate Ken Echesa

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has a difficult job of settling the differences between Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition and Kenya Kwanza Alliance on who has the majority. When the house meets on Tuesday, Wetangula is expected to make a ruling on which coalition should have the majority and minority leadership positions. Both Azimio and Kenya Kwanza believe that they have the numbers to get the majority position. However, the position has to go to one coalition leaving one in the minority.

Azimio had boasted of having the majority members but a number of them have since joined President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza. Advocate Ken Echesa has told Wetangula that he has a responsibility to stop the executive from interfering with parliament in future. While speaking during an interview with TV 47, Echesa says that if Wetangula rules that Azimio has the majority then he shall have made a wise ruling.

He says that a move like that will stop the current regime and even those that are yet to come from buying members in the opposing side.

“If Wetangula rules that Azimio has the majority in the National Assembly, he shall have made one of the best decisions so that in future no president can buy MPs in the opposition,” Ken Echesa has said.
