The long wait has finally come to an end following a declaration by Kirinyaga governor Ann Waiguru that she will defend her seat on a United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA).
The government made the announcement today, Wednesday 22nd September, during a political function in Kirinyaga County, where she asked the crowd to tell her the party they want her to vie on.
"You have heard me say several times that I will consult with the voters before I decide the party through which I will defend my seat in 2022. Now, I want you to tell me the party that you want me to use in 2022," Waiguru posed as shouts of "UDA! UDA!" filled the air.
"We you vote me as governor again if I come with that party," she posed amid applause and shouts of approval from the crowd.
Waiguru then said that she will comply with the demands of the voters because she cannot vote herself in.
"Now that you have decided, that's the party I will come back with. It's the way we have to follow as I ddefend my gubernatorial seat," she said sparking celebrations from the audience.
