Several critics of the Deputy President William Ruto have been claiming that he has since neglected his Rift Valley base, and focused on the Mount Kenya Region, that is arguably shifting to his anticipated main competitor Raila Odinga.
His allies led by Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei and also Belgut MP Nelson Koech stated that Ruto's engagement with Kenyans across the country will in no doubt deliver the win in the 2022 presidential bid.
They added that Ruto's communication skills and ability to listen to diverse opinions, as well as his regional economic blueprint stands as the reliable vehicle that will propel him to State House on claims that citizens across the country have accepted his approach.
The trio as quoted by the Star, stated that the Hustler Nation has given Ruto a nod to search for votes across the country with Cherargei and Koech adding that the lawmakers from Rift Valley have camped in their counties to popularize Ruto's bid, and that allegations the DP had sidelined his backyard is just propaganda.
"It is only fair that when the DP meets people from other counties, we give him space and respect. We do not want to domesticate him though he also represents our aspirations," said Koech.
Cherargei also concurred, "We are holding down the fort for him as we champion and teach our people about the bottom-up economic model. Our country is not homogeneous and thus we want as many Kenyans as possible to feel free to engage the DP."
