It has been a big blow to Azimio la Umoja as their gubernatorial candidate of Embu county, Emilio Kathuri withdrew from the race to support his counterpart of Kenya Kwanza Cecily Mbarire.
This comes five days before Kenya's general elections. Azimio la Umoja has been facing such betrayals in the recent past. Mike Mbuvi Sonko of Mombasa withdrew also from Azimio to join Kenya Kwanza on similar grounds.
Now in Embu, tough competition is only left to Lenny Kivuti of the Bus Party under Azimio and Cecily Mbarire of UDA under the Kenya Kwanza coalition. The two have massive support in the region which makes this race tight and tight every day.
Much has been said that this is a strategic move to counter their competitor Lenny Kivuti in the region. This means that the support of Emilio will be a pillar to Cecily Mbarire who is so far the preferred candidate to win.
