The presidential election of 2022 is fast approaching, and candidates are working around the clock to make an impression and appeal to as many voters as possible. Many leaders have shown an interest in succeeding Uhuru, including DP. William Ruto, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Kivutha Kibwana, Mukhisa Kituyi, and most recently, Gideon Moi, have all been elected. One individual has yet to declare whether or not he will compete. Raila Odinga, the leader of the ODM.
Is Raila going to run for president?
According to unconfirmed rumors, the ODM leader will be on the ballot in 2022. Raila Odinga has officially launched his candidacy for President Uhuru Kenyatta's successor in the 2022 General Election, according to Tuko. The former prime minister's announcement comes after a landmark decision by the Court of Appeal that effectively ended the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Raila said in Bondo that he was ready to fight his arch-rival, Deputy President William Ruto, who has also expressed interest in the presidency. "I've been hearing a lot of people talking about wheelbarrows (in reference to Ruto's hustler tale) for months. They had plenty of time to create a racket, but now is the time to face the war on the field "Raila remarked.
During his address, he made it obvious that BBI, which sought to amend the 2010 Constitution, was no longer a priority for him, and that his main goal was to win the presidency. As a result, he asked his followers to register as many voters as possible ahead of the August 9, 2022 election.
He is the 5th President of Kenya!
Senator Ledama Olekina of Narok has surprised Deputy President William Ruto's allies by announcing that Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement, will be the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya. Ledama was elected on the ODM ticket and has been a staunch supporter of Raila.
Olekina's appointment comes after Raila Odinga's chances of winning the presidency increased after he met with Mt. Kenya Foundation (MKF) tycoons, who endorsed him. The group Vice Chairman stated unequivocally that they were required to find a successor for him.
Raila gifted 2022 campaign materials
Raila has yet to announce whether he will compete or not. Nonetheless, whether he does or does not compete, Raila will receive a significant boost if he does. Mike Rabar, the director of Homeboys Entertainment, and Bernard Waore, a Mombasa-based businessman, gifted him with six fully equipped automobiles for his campaign. Raila received the vehicles at his Chungwa House in Nairobi, and they will help him win the presidency in 2022.
The trucks are completely equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system, according to Mike Rabar, the Homeboys Director of Entertainment, and will go a long way in improving the former Prime Minister's campaign's audibility during the electioneering season. Aside from the cars, Raila was given 3,000 face masks, hand sanitizers, and protective robes to be utilized by the party during the campaign. Samuel Oliech Omolo, an industrialist who manufactures sanitizers and medical equipment, generously provided the materials.
What are the chances of a runoff in the 2022 elections?
Kenyan presidential elections have traditionally been a two-horse affair, but that could change today. According to Cheeseman, it's "quite feasible" that "we actually have three or four credible candidates in this race." In the run-up to the election, such a scenario would elicit more discussion about potential candidates. It would also make it difficult for any candidate to win with the required 50 percent plus one vote, increasing the likelihood of a historic second presidential round, he said.
