The honorable Aden Duale, a former member of parliament for the Garissa township constituency, has chosen his brother-in-law to take his place.
According to sources, Mr. Mohamed Barrow Dekow has been chosen for the role by the former lawmaker who is now the cabinet secretary in charge of the ministry of defense.
With the support of His Excellency the Head of State President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance movement Party, Mr. Mohamed Barrow Dekow will now be given a direct ticket to run in the election.
Other candidates from the same Abduwak clan, such as Mr. Abdikarim Osman, a former Fafi MP, Ms. Mulki Warsane, a loser in the race for a woman representative, and Mr. Mohamed Gabow, have their situations complicated by Mr. Dekow's clan endorsement.
After Aden Duale became one of the fortunate individuals to secure cabinet positions in His Excellency the Head of State president William Ruto's government, the top job was declared vacant.
The by-elections will start early in the following year, according to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
