A few days ago, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC, warned politicians against conducting early campaigns as it goes against the set rules by the electoral agency.

However, in a quick response, frontrunners in the race to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta: deputy president William Ruto and former prime minister Raila Odinga stated that they have not began campaigns, for Ruto he stated that he has been inspecting government projects.

However, for national assembly speaker Justin Muturi, he is already in campaign mode and is eying the presidency, he stated that he is keen on succeeding president Uhuru Kenyatta and he will go all the way upto the ballot.

"The truth will set us free. I will not say like other leaders that I have not started campaigning. I want to state that I am running for the presidential seat and I will be on the ballot next year." Muturi posted on his Twitter handle

Muturi took his campaigns to Nyamira county today where he presided over a fundraiser for a church.
