Edwin Abonyo, husband to the late Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso, is locked up following the court battle between him and his sister in-law Judy Cheptoo over the state wealth of the late Governor Laboso.
Judy leased a lawyer telling the court that she intends to go against the court orders of allowing Abonyo over his late wife's estate.
Abonyo told the court that he filed the application as the widower and also sort a grant of substituting his name with that of the late Laboso, his wife.
In January 2021, a gazette notice was published granting him temporary orders to own Ksh 100 million estate in 2020. This was made possible as the High Court Judge Aggrey Muchelule gave orders letting Abonyo manage the estate following an application through lawyer Fred Athuok.
Some of the late Governor Laboso's properties he listed are stationed at Kericho, Kisumu, Karen and South Sotik. Also a town house along Kilimani road, a house in Kericho and some 275 shares in Kenya Grain Growers Co-operative Union.
