It's a relief for our health care system as the national government launches the distribution of the 170 of 500 hospital beds by Mungai Gathogo to go to 14 counties. Owing to the sharp rise in the number of cases of COVID-19 that has made new admissions impossible and priority patients disposal a new normal, the government opted not to wait for all beds to be made but instead divide it into batches.

The 500 beds are part of the 8- point economic stimulus program unveiled last year by President Uhuru Kenyatta that requires that the government procures hospital beds which are locally made and by local artisans across the country.
All counties were required to buy at least 300 beds each from local artisans pending prototype approval and standardisation. This beds will help the counties contain the covid 19 situation despite the surging cases. However, more precautions still need to be taken to contains the situation at hand.
