Mutahi Ngunyi States Time Limit For Chebukati to Announce Results According to Constitution

Professor Mutahi Ngunyi has wondered if IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati will be able to beat the deadline provided by the constitution to announce the presidential results, urging that He might be delaying the whole process because of the pace that the presidential forms are being collected.

Speaking through Twitter, Ngunyi said that the Presidential results are only put in the form 34B of the Elections ballot papers and there are a total of 291 forms 34B in the Country which has been submitted upto now, and the constitution only gives the body 7 days to speed up and announce the results in bits and allow Kenyans to be informed.

He further stated that Chebukati will be needed to announce at least 60 forms a day from tomorrow, which will translate to around 2 forms a day and since He has just rele ased a single form to make Kenyans access it, for verification purposes.

However, the state House Strategist wondered if Chebukati will be able to increase the speed and make announce the forms, so that He can be done within the required time.

Ngunyi who is affiliated to Azimio faction has been actively lamenting on social media for the better part of today afternoon whims asking the electotal body to stop conducting themselves in such a manner, and even encouraging some politicians to take advantage of the situation to propel propaganda and their agenda.

However, the IEBC boss confirmed that Kenyans should be very patient and peaceful since He will just conduct the election exercise in the required manner and announce the winner since He is required by the law, and any other tallies should be treated as not reliable.

Reports have also revealed that some forms that relate to the final tally are yet to be submitted to Nairobi, in some regions which have remained out in the final submission groups. This is expected to take place before the whole exercise begins.
