Kenyans are again expected to go for another general poll in the next 46 days and elect new leaders who will represent them in the next five years. The election body, IEBC which is tasked with the role of ensuring the success of elections has now published the full data showing the number of registered voters who are waiting to vote for the August general elections.
According to IEBC, a total of 22.12 million voters have been registered to participate in the August general elections. The registered voters in the 47 Counties are 22.10 million, those in diaspora 10,453 while those in prisons are 7,483. Out of the total, Riftvalley region leads in total number of registered voters followed by Central, Nyanza, Nairobi, Western, Coast, Ukambani, Upper Eastern and North Eastern region's respectively.
Here is the total number of registered voters per region as per the IEBC's data.
1. Riftvalley region - 5.34 million.
2. Central Kenya region - 3.1 million.
3. Nyanza region - 3.1 million.
4. Nairobi region - 2.41 million.
5. Western region - 2.2 million.
6. Coastal region - 1.96 million.
7. Ukambani region - 1.69 million
8. Upper Eastern - 1.59 million and
9. North Eastern - 626,261 voters.
In terms of counties, Nairobi and Kiambu Counties are leading with the highest number of voter's.
Top 6 counties with highest number of voter's.
1. Nairobi county - 2.41 million.
2. Kiambu county - 1.27 million.
3. Nakuru county - 1.05 million.
4. Kakamega county - 844,551.
5. Meru county - 772,139 and
6. Machakos County - 687,565 voters.
