IEBC Insider Hints On When The Big News May Be Broken

Despite overwhelming anxiety and unrivalled interest among Kenyans towards the results of the neck-to-neck presidential race pitting Raila Odinga and William Ruto, Kenyans may have to wait longer than expected for official results to be released. This is according to an insider at IEBC privy with the systems put in place.

According to the informant who spoke to the Nation after seeking anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, the big news may be broken earliest on Saturday, this is after completing the verification and collation process possibly by end of tomorrow.

The verification process is the most demanding exercise as every constituency returning officer will be subjected to the process taking around 40 minutes per person to all the 290 returning of officers.

“We project that each returning officer will take 40 minutes to be processed by the end of Friday so that we break the big news on Saturday,” said the official anonymously.

As at now, almost all form 34A have been uploaded to IEBC portal representing 99.78%. Also, constituency returning officers have began arriving at the bomas of Kenya for the verification process.

Returning officers in the August 9 elections have begun streaming in at the national tallying centre in Bomas of Kenya.

To speed up movement of returning officers from their respective constituencies to the main tallying centre at the Bomas of Kenya, the officers will be airlifted to Nairobi.
