JUST IN: Woman Who Had Accused Agriculture CS Nominee Mithika Linturi of Rape Withdraws The Case

Former Meru County senator and current Agriculture CS nominee Mithika Linturi can now smile after a case where he was accused of rape was withdrawn. According to the Star Newspaper, the woman has now withdrawn the case under unclear circumstances.

Mithika Linturi had been accused of sneaking inside a couple's hotel room where the husband had left the room before trying to rape the woman. Through a video that was shared by sources a few months ago, it shows a man who was later identified to be Mithika Linturi in a compromising position with unidentified woman.

However, it was not established if the incident was legit or it was just a setup. Most Kenyans believed that the incident was a set-up and a political witch-hunt to paint Mr Linturi negatively. Kenyans now suspect that the woman might have withdrawn the case probably due to threats and intimidations, the matter was solved out of court or the woman was paid to remain silent.

The matter comes barely one day after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said while in an interview the accusing against Aisha Jumwa and Mithika Linturi were political witch-hunt and the truth will be known. It is now a relief to Linturi since the issue would have affected him during vetting to be a Cabinet Secretary for agriculture.
