Today, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior Karanja Kibicho released a statement explaining the rationale behind the government's decision to limit the attendance of visitors at President-elect William Ruto's inauguration.
During the meeting, PS Kibicho discussed the government's plans for ensuring a festive inauguration on Tuesday.
PS Kibicho said in his statement that roughly 20 heads of state will be in attendance, albeit they have limited the number of VIP guests.
According to Kibicho, the main dias can only hold 2,500 guests, thus only those people will be able to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
There is a maximum capacity for the dais, therefore due to security concerns we will only be able to invite a select few. Only 2,500 invited guests would be allowed on the main dais, he explained.
