Mizani Africa ranked Kirinyaga governor, Anne Waiguru, as the second best governor in the country after her Tharaka Nithi counterpart, Muthomi Njuki. These rankings came as a surprise to many Kenyans as nobody would have expected Waiguru to be among the top performers going by her past history where she was even impeached by the county legislators.
Waiguru has broken the silence after these rankings where she has disclosed the simple tactic that enabled her beat the rest of the county bosses. Through her social media handles, Anne has disclosed the vision of what she calls the Kirinyaga Rising strategy.
"Our concept is simple, the Kirinyaga Rising vision, empowering our people through improving service delivery and inclusive development. I always believe in leaving a place better than I found it! Mungu Mbele," said the governor.
Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru
After the situation of Kirinyaga hospitals was revealed during Waiguru's impeachment, the governor embarked on improving the health sector and currently there is an ultra modern block being built at the Kerugoya hospital. The block will ease service delivery when it comes to healthcare.
However, despite these rankings, there are is a section of Kirinyaga residents who protested Waiguru's performance. They argued that there is nothing to celebrate in the county.
Mizani Africa also produced the rankings for the members of parliament, members of the county assemblies and the county speakers.
