Governor Ojaamong Reacts After President Uhuru Kenyatta Lifted The Nationwide Curfew

President Uhuru Kenyatta has lifted the dusk to dawn curfew that has been in force since 27th March, 2020 with immediate effect.

Addressing the nation during Mashujaa Day Celebrations at Wang'uru Stadium in Kirinyaga County, President Uhuru Kenyatta said the lifting of the curfew is meant to open up the economy.

I hereby order that the nationwide dusk to dawn curfew that has been in effect from 2020 be vacated with immediate effect," Uhuru announced amid applause from those in the stadium.

However, Uhuru said Kenya is not out of the woods yet, thus the need to observe Covid-19 containment measures despite the country recording less than 5 percent positivity rate for the last two weeks.

It was a boost to those listed on CRB with the president ordering banks to delist those who borrowed Sh5m loans since December 2020 to be given leeyway up to December, 2022.

The youths were other beneficiaries with Sh10b allocated for next phase of Kazi mtaani.

Power cuts of 30% will take efffect on December 24th, 2021. Ksh 1.5b has been set aside for sugar sector reforms and other sectors to the tune of Ksh25b.
