Sources Hint What Next To Kalonzo After Raila Defeat And Uhuru Retirement

A number of the figures are at a crossroads in their political careers as a result of President William Ruto's victory over Raila Odinga, the presidential candidate for the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance, during the presidential elections on August 9.

The Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, the Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and the secretary general of the Jubilee Party Jeremiah Kioni are now the focus of attention as former president Uhuru Kenyatta's term draws to a close. There are also rumors circulating that Raila may decide to leave politics.

Uhuru, who chairs the Azimio council despite having been given the position of peace envoy by Ruto, may decide if Kioni's choice and the party's decision will be made.

Kalonzo's eyes are reportedly already set on the 2027 presidential elections, where he will be running to dethrone Ruto, despite the Azimio camp's agreement to play the oppositional role for the next five years.

As the Azimo wing seeks to rein in Ruto's Kenya Kwanza government, it has been rumored that Kalonzo has plans to launch his presidential ambitions very soon.

Various political analysts, however, have argued that no one should discount Raila's chances of making his sixth attempt at the presidency in 2027.
