A few minutes past 1am, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen sent out a statement regarding the current security issue in Kerio Valley region within his Marakwet area.
In his statement, the outspoken Senator has noted that he is greatly disturbed by the situation on the ground noting that armed civilians have taken over the Marakwet East area.
He has also disclosed that he has spoken with the Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government programs CS Fred Matiang'i over the issue of the insecurity.
"One upside, though, is the assurance by Interio CS Dr. Fred Matiang'i who I spoke to this evening that intensified security response in the area starts this morning. I really hope that the state will act ruthlessly this time around and deal a deadly blow to these terrorists."Kipchumba Murkomen.
He has given a situation where the gunmen sprayed a woman and her children with bullets and ended up killing them without stealing even a single item from them.
He has also noted that they killed a government official near a high school which was not far away from the police station and also a General Service Unit camp still in his Elgeyo Marakwet area.
According to the close ally of the Deputy President William Ruto, this comes amid security officials having deployed a deputy County Commissioner in the area a few weeks ago.
